Quotes only compare when every supplier is pricing the same thing. A short, complete brief does that, and it usually shortens the whole project.
- Photograph the site from the distance and angle people will really see it from, plus a close-up of the surface the sign will be fixed to.
- Measure the space. Give width and height, and say what the surface is: concrete, glass, metal sheet, timber or something else. It decides the fixing method.
- Say when it must be read. A sign that has to work at night needs lighting. Say so up front.
- Send your brand files. A vector logo and your exact colours avoid delays at the artwork stage.
- Decide the main message. Name, then what you do, then the contact. List what must be readable from the farthest point where customers should notice it.
- Mention access and approvals. Working height, working hours, and any permission needed from your landlord or the relevant authority.
- Ask for the same scope from everyone: materials, lighting, installation, delivery and what happens if something fails after installation.
